We’ve all seen the ‘Berlin starter pack’ memes. Those typical all-black uniforms. The Club Maté sippers and kebab munchers. Don’t forget the guestlist and “I know the DJ” types, too. In a city where so many try to fit in, those who stand out become even more obvious.
MCR-T (real name Julian McCarthy) is one local who walks to his own beat. Born and raised in Berlin-Zehlendorf, the international artist’s identity and expression is rooted in the city’s underground.

Combining elite DJ skills and turbocharged MCing, MCR-T's performances are one of a kind. His sound channels a raw hybrid of Miami bass, booty house, ghettotech, and hard techno. The music is fast, the vocals are loud, and the dancefloor always drips with sweat.
The Sesh Dawgs United head honcho is no stranger to collaboration. Over the years, he’s worked alongside Partiboi69, DJ Gigola, horsegiirL, and countless other Live From Earth artists.
A partnership that started long ago
MCR-T's limited edition Soundboks Mix isn’t the first time we’ve teamed up. For the past six years, he’s been an unofficial ambassador, living the DIY ethos that makes us who we are.
Back when COVID took over our lives, MCR-T would head down to his local park to exercise his mind and body. Armed with a Soundboks, he’d blast bangers for workout motivation and fuel.
In our winter campaign, MCR-T spoke about how Soundboks helps him to beat loneliness. We returned to the same park he worked out in all those years ago to see him in action. Even in this post-COVID world, he still hits the same bars and rings to keep his body moving.
Now it’s time to reveal our latest collaboration...
Behind our collaboration
This limited edition Soundboks Mix represents a mutual love of shared moments. That grill design features a picture of the man himself kicking down walls and radiating raw rave energy. We’ve also printed a custom 3D logo that you can attach to your speaker–a first for Soundboks Mix.
This design represents another first for us, too. It’s the first time we’ve customized Soundboks Mix’s grill. Beyond the electric design, this collaboration has a deeper meaning.

Partying is never a solo activity. Whenever you get down, who knows what future friendships you’ll make. It gives you a space to forget about the world and only care about the moment, too. This is where communities thrive and ideas come to life.
With music as our glue, strangers become friends. Wherever you are, whatever resources you have–it doesn’t matter. Any party is a good party. Any reason is a good reason. Get out there and make things happen.
