We officially launched Lightboks back in August ‘25. Our audio-reactive party light hit the shelves after years of development, prototyping, and testing. But with any new product, the real testing is always done by our community.
You’ve shown us how you’ve used your Lightboks. You’ve told us what features you’d like to see. You’ve helped us improve your party’s missing piece to become even better than before. Now, it’s even more of a must-have for any sort of social situation.
Roskilde Festival is fast approaching. There’s a full summer of fun ahead. To get the most out of your campsite experiences and times with friends, here’s how we’ve improved Lightboks.
Create unlimited color palettes with custom colors
You can now build your own color palette (3 main colors and an effect color) right in the app. Use the color wheel to dial in exactly the shade you want. Want one clean color across the whole show? One tap does it.
Name it, save it, come back to it any time. Even after you turn your Lightboks off, it remembers your palette when it powers back on. The best bit? Any palette you create can be shared with and saved by your friends.
Use FXPad’s four effects to add a new dimension
FXPad gives you four buttons to trigger light effects on your Lightboks in real time. Press and hold to run an effect, release to stop–it’s that simple. These effects fire across all Lightboks in a Team, too.
These four effects are:
- Strobe: a bright white strobe that flickers at 25 fps
- BlackOut: cuts out all light, adding atmosphere before the drop
- Chase: a single LED races around the unit, switching between palette and effect color
- Sparkle: a celebratory strobe remix with effect color
Uplight’s constant, effect-free light adds to the atmosphere
Uplight is a new Energy Level that turns off all animations and just holds a steady light. Think ambience, not light show. This is perfect for the hours before the party starts and after the main event is over.
Your Lightboks can cycle between multiple colors or stick to one singular selection. Uplight can only be toggled in the Soundboks app–there isn’t a physical button on your audio reactive party light.
Control how long the big moments last with Power Event Duration
In Dance or Rave mode, your Lightboks fires an effect when the beat drops. This is what we call a ‘power event.’ Power Event Duration is the new setting that lets you decide how long that power event lasts.
There are five durations: Off / Short / Default / Medium / Long. Off is ideal when running effects manually with FXPad, while Long is great for fast-paced music where power events normally disappear too quickly. Our advice is to play around and see what works for your music.
Sync multiple lights to create matched displays with Mirroring
If you have more than one Lightboks, Mirroring let’s you create bigger lightshows. Each Lightboks can flip its animation to complement the others. This essentially turns two or more lights into a symmetrical show.
You can flip animations horizontally, vertically, or both across a multi-unit setup. Configured per unit in the Soundboks app, this is another feature we recommend having a play with.
